A Snowy Georgia Mountain Wedding

We've DREAMED of a snowy, forest wedding here at Oakleaf Cottage, and unexpectedly got our wish this Saturday!

For the past two weeks, we have enjoyed fairly typical March warm days between 60-75*F, and it was still a balmy 65 as the rehearsal ended on Friday (check our our tiktok for a little video fun we had!). As can happen in the mountains though, a cold front arrived overnight, quickly laying nearly 2 inches of snow and dropping our daytime high for Saturday to 34. It was so tempting to have the wedding outside with that amazing snowy forest setting, and while we do have a couple of outdoor mushroom-style heaters on hand, Lexi and Sean had a number of older guests and for their comfort, decided to go with our Plan B and have the wedding inside the barn instead. Lexi and Sean had our And Then Some package, which includes greenery draped in the rafters of the barn -- it added so much extra life to the ceremony!

For tablesettings, they had chosen from our collection dark blue, light blue, green and smoke glassware, with the mismatched vintage silverware and simple white plates, with glass candleholders lending so much added sparkle to the table. Some concerns were expressed regarding our steep driveway -- it never froze and was perfectly clear throughout the weekend. We did have some challenges with the barn deck, as the salt did not seem to be working at all. About 4 hours ahead of the ceremony, we resorted to using a sort of soft blowtorch to melt the snow and mopped up the water, making our deck nice and safe in time for cocktail hour. **All photos here taken by our onsite photographer, Cameron at noremaC Studios
